2 weeks went by in a flash. We finished our walk with friends at a spectacular Medieval Fiesta in a small town called Hospital de Orbigo, just outside of Astorga.
The walk into (and out of for that matter!) is unremarkable – along roadways, through suburbs and industrial parks. But it was worth it to get to the beautiful city of Leon. It’s one of my favourite places on the Camino trail.

Leon has a beautiful Cathedral, which is spectacular at night.

We had a rest day here exploring the city. Even did a little shopping (I scored a new dress and some makeup for my post Camino life). even though this wasn’t our last stop, it kind of felt like the end. But we hoisted our packs on again…

We followed the signs…

And eventually arrived at the small hamlet of Villar de Mazarife.

We met a Frenchman at the local bar and managed a great conversation with the help of Google Translate.
The next day was our official last walking day together. Our morning photo…

This was the coldest day we had. The wind was biting. I was the only sensible one who put their jacket on at the start, they all succumbed soon after. It was so cold!
Scenes from the walk out …

And then we arrived at Hospital de Orbigo! It was a visual feast!

We watched knights practising their skills for the jousting tournament. Ours was the White Knights. Cute, but his skills at hitting targets and staying on his horse were sadly not up to speed…

The street entertainment was great!

So that’s a wrap on our Camino for this trip. We treasured the time with our friends – it was lovely to reconnect after so many years. We decided we were all great walking companions so here’s to many more.
