Wow. So there’s hot and then there’s Morocco!! For the past week we’ve had temperatures in the 40s. As I say…’it’s hot!’ And I’m loving it. (sorry melbourne readers…) Here are the last few days… The markets of Rabat – capital city of Morocco. Lively, providing a great glimpse into local life.

Rabat was very different to Casablanca-the locals seemed more relaxed, evidenced in lots wearing almost western dress. Some great street art…

It had a great Kasbah (which we rocked, naturally!)…

And a mausoleum to a famous dead leader which had costumed guards who, in spite of appearances, were more than happy to have their photos taken. They are told that they must change their facial expressions every so often so if you happen to catch their eye you might get anything from a frown to raised eyebrows! Smiles were optional… From Rabat we went to Meknes. A region famous for its olives and wine. They have olives for breakfast here! I’m now thinking bocadillo with jamón and olives might be my new go to brekkie!!!). I’m not a fan of the mint tea they have endlessly here though. Next stop – Fes and the Roman ruins of Volubilis.
