We have walked a long way. A long, long way. Over 400 km to be exact. But who’s counting? We are 4 days into the Meseta. Last night when staying at the wonderful parochial albergue in Bercianos Del Real Camino, we joined some Kiwis to do a ‘haka’. To put a context to this the last few days have been endless fields of wheat. Endless. And long stretches of Roman roads that Julius Caesar himself travelled. Some stretches have been 17+ km with no towns in between. Most have been over 10km. I. Am. So. Very. Tired. Which is probably why this momentary lapse of judgment happened.
